Curtis T. Jewell saw a great future in technology and envisioned creating an information technology (IT) consulting company with experienced professionals who would always be on the cutting edge of technology.
In 1989 Jewell founded EXCEL Management Systems, Inc., as an IT consulting company that offered professional services in systems design, imaging, systems management, and project management with sales of hardware and software.
Between 1989 and 1996, EXCEL received and responded to requests from government agencies and private companies that needed both short- and long-term technological solutions. EXCEL steadily established a client base, a reputation for providing quality services, and a firm financial footing. In 1989, Jewell was EXCEL’s sole employee, but by 1996 the business employed 85 people and reached revenues of $11.5 million.
Since 1997, EXCEL has steadily expanded its presence in all of its focused market segments, including Ohio state agencies, the EPA, the U.S. Air Force, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and national commercial customers. With offices in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Boynton Beach, Florida; and Durham, North Carolina; EXCEL is providing services to our customers throughout the country.
